Ran cross country and track all throughout high school. Met a lot of great people and enjoyed the races, travel time, and the overall process for all four years. I made varsity several times throughout high school, but had to work quite a bit for it as well. Overall, had a great experience with it though!

Personal:

Born again Christian. I have been a type 1 diabetic since 2015 and celiac since 2018, and even though I have had my struggles with it, I still strive to live a healthy life. Senior at Utah State University studying Health Science. Hoping to go into pharmaceuticals and focus on diabetic supplies and medicine, because I am quite passionate about helping those that have the same medical condition as I do.

PM- 4 mile shakeout in Artesia, NM. Spending spring break visiting some of my family down here. It is super windy here all the time, so I don't know how much running outside I want to do here, but I will do the best I can. About a 16 hour drive to get here from Vernal, so my legs were pretty tight during this run.

AM- 5.1 miles around Artesia. Made it back just before the rain started coming. Blood sugar levels have been amazing the last few days, rarely in the 200's, and they are pretty flat and stable throughout the day around 80-120mg/dl. Energy levels are kind of low running right now, which might have something to do with the fact that my blood sugar levels are much lower than what I am used to, even though they are in a stable range. Going to let my body feel itself out during my runs over the next week or two.

AM- No running today. Went to a crossfit gym in Artesia with my cousin, and did some HIIT training. We did 3 rounds of 1 minute at each station of: bear crawls, kettlebell figure eights, box jumps, battle ropes, and burpees. Overall a pretty good workout. Went to the Carlsbad Caverns later in the day, which was really neat! Those caves are massive!

AM- Another 5.1 from the AirBnB. 7:51 average. Felt better than on Tuesday. Heading back home tomorrow morning. Also I got accepted to run the 2020 New York City Marathon through Team JDRF, which is a charity organization that supports trying to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. This would be a really cool experience, not only because it is the NYC Marathon, but it is the 50th NYC Marathon. I do have to raise $4,000 of donation money to be able to run the marathon, so I will start working on that over the next few months. Didn't think I would be running Boston and New York in the same year, but it looks like it might be happening!

AM- 11.4 milies on the assault bike in 40:42. Trying to get back into the swing of things.

PM- 5 miles from Vernal Park. Did a short 1/4 mile pickup at the end. Even though these are stressful times right now, it is nice to see others getting in some daily movement and fresh air at the park today. Stay positive everybody and have a great day!

AM- 5 on Naples HW. 7:56 average. Hoping to slowly build mileage this week, and progress towards a solid build up for the Dino Half and the Death race in July, that is if they don't cancel it with everything that has been going on in the world. Just got to keep consistency and stay positive!

PM- 45 minute mixed movements workout at home, consisting of double unders, weighted situps, box jumps, pushups, rowing, and the assault bike.

AM- 40 minute easy ride on the assault bike. Apparently we had an earthquake here in Utah.

PM- 10k from Aggie. If there is a wind, choose the tailwind. Blood sugar went low halfway, but luckily got out of it towards the end.

PM- Crossfit workout today, and practicing social distancing.

5 rounds of:

250m row

25 situps

25 dumbell snatches

20 minute amrap:

10 box jumps

1 minute assault bike

Ended up landing weird on my foot during the box jumps, so I cut it short there. If it is a strain, it is quite mild, because I can walk pretty good on it right now.

AM- 20.55 miles on the assault bike in 1:15:51. Being cautious today about the foot, but still getting in some quality aerobic work. I have been gluten-free for over a month now, and I have been mostly plant-based for about three weeks. I can definitely tell that my endurance has improved quite a bit because of going gluten-free and also eating high nutrient dense foods from fruits and vegetables!

AM- 4.1 miles just before noon. Then I tested out the Nike Vaporfly 3's that I bought a few weeks ago on the treadmill. They felt pretty good, but I did notice that they can slide off the heel easily, but I will have to do a couple more test runs with them.

PM- Met up with Ty and Andrew for about 6-7 miles. Last two in 6:33 and 6:23. Didn't realize we were going to pick up the pace into the mid-six's, but it felt good to get the legs turning over some.

PM- McCoy Flats Jackalope Loop today. Legs felt stiff on the climb, but started to really loosen up halfway. Was planning on doing one lap of the Death Race course afterward, but my blood sugar started to drop quite a bit, so I called it there. Overall, a great trail run!

PM#2- 4 miles on Naples HW. Blood sugar was 46 mg/dl after the run, so that felt pretty bad.
