Ran cross country and track all throughout high school. Met a lot of great people and enjoyed the races, travel time, and the overall process for all four years. I made varsity several times throughout high school, but had to work quite a bit for it as well. Overall, had a great experience with it though!

Born again Christian. I have been a type 1 diabetic since 2015 and celiac since 2018, and even though I have had my struggles with it, I still strive to live a healthy life. Senior at Utah State University studying Health Science. Hoping to go into pharmaceuticals and focus on diabetic supplies and medicine, because I am quite passionate about helping those that have the same medical condition as I do.

So the handi cap race is basically where the slowest person on the team goes first then the second slowest and so on based on the fastest time of the year. Warmed up for a mile then dynamics and the whole shabang. I started 17:45 after the slowest person, which nobody caught whoever was in front. Austin started about 20 seconds ahead of me. So I went off and we went down the High School highway and behind the school. There was a little hill by the facility and once I got there I was feeling good and then I sprained my ankle on the curb. I thought that I was just going to stop and not finish the race but then I saw Nathan coming up behind me and I tried to start running again. He still passed me though. After that I tried to hang on and at about a mile to go Kedric passed me. I finished the race and my ankle was hurting really bad I could barely walk. Iced and elevated all night and still not sure if I'll be going to Park City on Saturday. I just want to be solid and ready for Region next weekend.

Today the ankle actually felt a little better so I went and did some crossfit stuff light.

So today I actually felt better and I went and ran. I had to wear a brace though because it was still kind of weak. But still felt good went at about 7:30 pace.

So today was our last hard workout before region and it was speed. We started out with a 800 and coach wanted us to pace the first 400 and go hard on the second 400. First lap was around an 80 and then started to pick it up. 2:34. Felt more like a good stride out the second lap. Then we did some 400s with finishes at different parts. Hit 72,68,71,75. After that we did some 200s I am not sure my splits on those but probably low 30s. Overall a good workout before region.

2 miles easy with strides and what ever else. Got my Cherokee shirt today and some people loved it and others didn't but that's alright I thought it was pretty sick. Then the seniors have their speeches and it made me sad cause I won't be running with them much longer. Anyway whatever happens tomorrow I just want everyone to give their best!!!

I really wanted to good in this race and make it to state to run. Since I was in the JV race I was planning on winning the race but that wasn't what turned out as planned. I started out trying to get into position and stay with Austin but there was a big wall at the start going through the woods which wasn't good. Hit the first mile at 5:34. Which wasn't too bad but then I Austin started to pull away from me. I was trying and the weird thing was my breathing was just fine but my legs felt like they just froze up on me. Came in with a 17:51. Shoutout to our team for winning Region though, it was amazing. And especially for getting bumped up to 4a. Even though this was my last race for the year and I really wanted to run the last race with the seniors it was still a heck of a season. I am actually really happy with how I have performed this year with getting diagnosed with diabetes and everything that has happened. Next year I feel like I will be more prepared for my last year. With being used to my diabetes and knowing how to handle it. My goal for next season is to break 16:30 and take top 10 or even five would be great. Anyway if anyone even cares about reading all of this, I have just one last thing to say. Life is 10 percent of what happens to you and 90 percent of how you respond. # CherokeeNation

So after Region I went out to Draper the next day to compete in a crossfit competition at Crossfit the Point Took third place which I was happy about considering I haven't done Crossfit for a few months then went on a 6 mile trail run at 715 pace!!! Pretty sweet day.

So got home from the city and that afternoon did a tempo on the treadmill at 6:25 pace felt pretty decent for the treadmill. Afterwards did 3 400s. 75,76,72. Felt controlled during the workout.

Was super sore from Fran so I decided to go for a three mile shakeout that morning before school. I was dead sore. Then that afternoon we did yellow hill at practice I felt awful legs were just too sore to keep up with the guys.

4 mile shakeout down to the golf course!! Went to CF that afternoon workout killed me though!! Tomorrow is state I am really sad that this is the last race for the seniors gonna miss them a lot. 5 miles at 6:50 pace the same pace I would like to run for the haunted half marathon on Saturday!! Super stoked for it!!! Then went out to watch state. No matter what happened at state I am still proud of our boys for the season and winning region!!! Shoutout to Alek Parsons for winning 4a and Timp for winning the team title!!! Also for Lehi beating AF and almost catching Davis!!! It was a pretty good day to watch!!!

So I'm doing the haunted half marathon up in parleys canyon and finishing at Sugarhouse park!!! My goal is under 1:30. So around 6:50 pace but just gonna have fun and enjoy the race!!! Have to try and get as many scalps as possible if I can haha!!! #CherokeeNation

All I can say is what an awesome day today has been from getting up at 5am and getting in a bus to go to Parleys canyon!!! Anyways got to the canyon and it was pretty chilly but they had fire pits and such which was nice. I wore tights and a long shirt though just to stay warm. After waiting for the entire 1,600 people to get up the canyon we started the race. I was planning on running around 6:50 pace but that did not happen at all haha!!! I hit the mile mark at 6:02 so I was like ok this is a little fast then I hit the 3 mile mark at 17:55. It was a gradual downhill until mile 5 to 6 but still I felt great. I just tried coasting behind these two ladies who run ironman a so I wasn't too embarrassed. Aft ward it was just me and one of the girls I was in 5th place. Afterward dropped into the neighborhood and was still going strong but really needed the bathroom. I just tried to hang on for the rest. Out kicked the girl by about 50 seconds then ended at Sugarhouse Park. It was so awesome I felt great and was so confident!!! Shoutout to the first place winner with a 1:05 finish and also the girl I barely beat haha!!! Also to Nathan and Aaron PRing in the 5k tonight. Beasts!!! #CherokeeNation

Easy 4 in the AM and then rowing intervals in the afternoon. Did 6 500s. Felt good. I read online that rowing can help improve your finish in races and help you feel stronger.

5 miles easy before school on the treadmill which I hated!! Haha stupid boredom. Then headed to the track where I found Aaron warming up and getting ready for his speed work. Warmed up for a mile then did some strides and dynamics. My workout was 2 800s then 2 400s. Then 2 more 800s and then 2 400s. Got out good and my first 800 was a 2:32. I was feeling kinda tight for the first but I finally loosened up. 2:35 for the second 800. Then I was feeling tired for the 400 but they were a lot easier mentally. Hit 74, then 76. After that I was getting kinda tired and Nathan showed up. He came for a workout but cheered me on too. Which made me feel better. My second set for the 800 were 2:36 then 2:43. The last 800 I felt really sluggish. Then the 400s were 75 and 73. Cool down for a mile. Overall a good solid workout before NXR. My first speed work since before region so I was happy with it.
