Ran cross country and track all throughout high school. Met a lot of great people and enjoyed the races, travel time, and the overall process for all four years. I made varsity several times throughout high school, but had to work quite a bit for it as well. Overall, had a great experience with it though!

Born again Christian. I have been a type 1 diabetic since 2015 and celiac since 2018, and even though I have had my struggles with it, I still strive to live a healthy life. Senior at Utah State University studying Health Science. Hoping to go into pharmaceuticals and focus on diabetic supplies and medicine, because I am quite passionate about helping those that have the same medical condition as I do.

So today was the handicap race for the year. Slowest person goes first then the next and so on.... it was based on PRs for the season so I went third to last. I felt pretty good except for S little tightness in the quads. I caught up to Talon and Davy about 1 mile in. Then Kedric and Clayton caught up to me and Kedric hauled from then on so S/O to him. I managed to keep the pace going hard and get my lead from the start on Clayton. After that I just pushed to the finish. It was a good race and I felt much better than I felt at Park City. Watch said 2.95 at the finish so I'll go with that. Calculated it out and it's sub 17!!!! Super happy with the result. Getting pumped for something good at region!!

Coming into today. I didn't know if this would be my last crosscountry race or not. I just came into the race menatlity that I can do this, we can do this. I believed that we would have a chance at making it to state. Got to the course and walked half of it, which was nice because I wanted to make sure that I knew where I could hug the inside lane of the course as much as possible. Warmed up and got to the line. I was excited and not really nervous. I wanted to enjoy this race and at the same time put everything I had into it. Got out really good today and was right up in the top 10-15 spots. Hit the mile in 5:17, which wasn't ideal, but it happens. Kept pushing and came through the second mile in 10:56. I was feeling really good up until this point in the race. I then started having some tightness in my legs and just couldn't keep the pace I had held really well for the last two miles or so. I thought that Salem Hills was the team that we had to really target on, but it turns out they were way ahead of us. I kept thinking in my mind that we could do it. I didn't know what would happen, but I tried to push that last 800. Finished in 17:13. I was told that it is alittle over 3 miles and not quite a 5k so I put it in as 3.05. Well thats it. My high school crosscountry career has come to a end. It really has been the best four years of my life so far, and I have learned alot through it. I really am going to miss racing and practices. It's been a good ride. S/O to Kedric and Rylie for making it to state, and for the entire team making my last year an awsome experience.

PM- Did a really tough workout today. Warmed up on the assault bike and then stretched out and got ready for the workout. The workout was 2 rounds for time of: 1 mile run in 5:45, 20 box jumps, 25 snatches, 500m row, 2 minute plank, and 20 burpees. Started out pretty good. Hit the first mile in 5:34. Then got through the first round of the box jumps, snatches and everything else. It was really tough after the first round of everything. I tried really hard to push through everything. The hardest part was probably the row and the mile. Everything else wasn't too bad. Really good workout. Gonna take it easy tomorrow and recover. Possibly will do a mile time trial on Friday. Cooldown 2 miles.

  • Went and did my run right after 4th hour, cause I have had a lot of AP homework lately. Just did an easy 6 miles at 7:15-7:30 pace. Felt kinda tired for the first Little bit but then started feeling better.

PM- Did a pretty good crossfit workout today. The workout was a 25 minute amrap of 15 box jumps, 2 minutes on the assault bike, and 10 burpees. It was a sweaty one for sure, but overall a good workout. Cool down 3 miles after.

AM- Today I decided to do a good long run. Did the six mile route down Vernal Ave. then up to the college, and back to the park, and then back up kids canal. I felt really good and controlled for most of the run. My legs got a little tight half way through but overall it was good. Average pace was 6:46 which I am very happy with.

Went and watched state today. It was sick!!! S/O to everyone that competed. It was fun to watch. Also S/O to Casey Clinger for being a freakin beast and getting a new state course record. And to Kedric and Rylie for running good races as well.

PM- Later at night I left the hotel and set out for an easy 7 miles around downtown SLC. It was really nice but also quite chilly to say the least. Average pace 7:13

AM- Easy 5 miles. Was really hoping that I would be able to do the Hauned Half tomorrow, but I got the ACT tomorrow so I got to do that instead. I am doing the Haunted Half in Provo next week so it should be a good race next week. Maybe I could finally go sub 1:20!!

PM- Took the ACT today which was very draining, which made me not really want to run or workout, but since I will be tapering next week for the Haunted Half on Saturday, I need to do one or two final workouts. Did a good crossfit workout with intervals and assault bike work. Then went on a medium effort run at around 6:40 pace. It was a good day for a workout, but I will probably be a little sore tomorrow.

AM- Today I decided to do my half marathon preparation run. The plan was to about 6 miles at half marathon goal pace, 6:05 average. My main concern in the half that I am running this Saturday is to keep the legs feeling loose and fresh. I set off and felt really good the first 3 miles. 17:52. Then I just tried to stay as relaxed as possible for the last 3. Legs got a little tight for the last little bit but overall a good pre race workout. Finished in 37;:31 for 6.1 miles, which I think I kept a pretty good pace throughout the run. Cooldown mile after. Now it is time to start tapering.

PM- Easy 3 miles out to the old church and back.

PM- Went and did an easy recovery run out to the buckskin hills. Legs felt pretty tight for most of it but loosend up once I got back and did some core work.

Later in the evening went to the team closing social. Good times!! Definitley gonna miss the team and racing. Did a 2.5 mile tempo after the social. Felt great and strong for the entire run. Hit 2 miles in about 12:05 and then just kinda floated for the last half mile

PM- Did my last hard effort workout today before the half marathon this weekend. Decided to just do the good old workout that consists of 2 rounds of 1 mile run in 5:45 then 20 box jumps, 25 db snatches, 500m row, 2 minute plank, and finish off with 20 burpees at the end of both rounds. It was pretty tough I will admit. This workout always hurts everytime that I do it. Especially doing the second mile when my entire core and upper body is burning from the snatches and plank. But a really good workout. Cooldown 2 miles afterward.

RACE DAY

Today was a great race. Woke up at 5:30, ate breakfast, and got mentally prepared for the race. Got to the mall where the buses were to pick us up. Got up to the starting line and did 1.5 warmup and dynamics. Was feeling good except for my blood sugar was high so I kinda felt like I had a headache. Gun went off and I got out towards the front. First mile was 5:36, a little fast. 2 mile split was 11:14. 3 mile 17:04. 10k split was roughly 36:35. I was feeling good until mile 10. That's when I was starting to hurt. I just kept trying to push and finished in 1:18:47!! PR by about 2 minutes. Super happy with the effort today!!! Now time for pizza.
