Ran cross country and track all throughout high school. Met a lot of great people and enjoyed the races, travel time, and the overall process for all four years. I made varsity several times throughout high school, but had to work quite a bit for it as well. Overall, had a great experience with it though!

Personal:

Born again Christian. I have been a type 1 diabetic since 2015 and celiac since 2018, and even though I have had my struggles with it, I still strive to live a healthy life. Senior at Utah State University studying Health Science. Hoping to go into pharmaceuticals and focus on diabetic supplies and medicine, because I am quite passionate about helping those that have the same medical condition as I do.

AM- Easy w/ 4 miles at marathon effort. Started out on the Diamond Mt. Road, heading towards home. Felt ok, but definitely I don't know what my performance will end up being this coming Saturday, just going to put in my best effort come race day.

AM- 5 easy, followed by 4 (roughly) 200m strides on our driveway road. It got really snowy in the last 2 miles, and since it was almost above freezing, the snow was quite wet. Drills and mobility afterward.

AM- Last little shakeout before tomorrow. Legs are feeling pretty fresh! And even though I feel like I am not in near as good of shape as I was last fall for R&R Las Vegas Marathon, I am just going to give it my best and embrace every mile! Time to fly!

AM- Well, all I can say is that injuries happen in running. Whether you are young or old, it seems that some time in most people's running career, they are bound to end up with an injury at some point. Since about January, I have had hip pain and lock ups during many of my training runs, and I have just tolerated it since then. Strides and somewhat speed work would never feel quite right, and my overall stride and cadence hasn't felt good since December. I went for my goal pace from the gun, but my hip started to lock up and hurt almost immediately. Had to stop several times starting at about mile 8 or 9, and just sort of shuffled my way to the finish line. When I finished, my legs were not even tired, because of the slow pace, so I know that I will recover quite quickly from this marathon, which is one positive thing from this race. And even though it was a very disappointing race, I still tried my best to enjoy the race. Probably going to take some time off from serious training for a week or two, and just do some cross training, and maybe run only if I feel like it. First, I need to go to some chiropractor/specialist to get my hip feeling 100% again. Then I will focus on my summer/fall build up races!
