Ran cross country and track all throughout high school. Met a lot of great people and enjoyed the races, travel time, and the overall process for all four years. I made varsity several times throughout high school, but had to work quite a bit for it as well. Overall, had a great experience with it though!

Personal:

Born again Christian. I have been a type 1 diabetic since 2015 and celiac since 2018, and even though I have had my struggles with it, I still strive to live a healthy life. Senior at Utah State University studying Health Science. Hoping to go into pharmaceuticals and focus on diabetic supplies and medicine, because I am quite passionate about helping those that have the same medical condition as I do.

AM- 10.5 easy with Ty. Starting at Vernal Park, then out past Naples 7-11, then back. 7:54 average. 10 strides afterward. While we were doing our strides, the cross country team was pulling in to get ready to go to there annual camp. I remember those good ole' days of XC camp, especially Death Hill lol!

PM- Much needed 4 mile shakeout after about a four hour anatomy study session. 8:02 average. Weights and core afterward. Saw Reagan running there too, so S/O to her!

AM- 5 on the TM. 7:30 average. Going to push my tempo run for the week to Thursday. So this weekend is going to be exciting, because I am going to Boulder, Colorado for a 3 day running camp. The guy that will be coaching us is Luis Orta, who has personal bests of 13:49 for 5k, 28:32 for 10k, and 2:16:30 for the marathon. We will probably be doing some type of fartlek workout on Saturday, a long run on Sunday, and several other easy runs and core workouts, so I don't want to overdue the system with two workouts prior to leaving for Boulder on Friday. Getting pretty excited for this camp!

AM- Ripped the band-aid off this morning with a my first little tempo run in quite some time. 2.3 warmup, 5k tempo in 19:06, then 5.2 mile cooldown. Could have pushed harder on the tempo, but I wanted to see how my body would feel with doing a bit more speed. Overall felt good to go faster today! Also got my blood work done yesterday, checking my CBC and iron levels, to see if my levels are improved and where they should be. Hopefully everything there has improved!

AM- 6.4 easy from home before leaving for Boulder Running Camp 2019. Really excited to run with others from all around the world and learn from the best!

PM- First run with everyone that is doing the camp. 3.7 miles easy on the Rocky Flats Trailhead. People that are doing the camp are from all over, Venezuela, Cuba, Miami, New York, Spain, and then there is me from Utah lol! Everyone doing the camp is really nice, and supportive of everybody's running goals. Met Lindsey Flanagan tonight, who is a 2:29 marathon runner, and also took 9th place at the Boston Marathon. Day #1 of camp in the books, and excited for Day#2 tomorrow!

AM- For our morning session today of the running camp, we did a short little fartlek workout of 30 seconds on/off for about 3 miles. Nothing really hard, mostly just striding out. We did the fartlek at a nice dirt trail called the Davidson Mesa Trailhead. Boulder is such a beautiful city with plenty of awesome runners to me while staying here!
