Freshmen Year-  When I started on Uintah I really didn't know how I would do. Ran a 5k or two and then just started running with the team. The older kids really liked me and called me the good freshmen. I then made varsity, which kinda ticked Nathan off but I was happy with it. Time trials I ran like 18 flat. Along with Mason,Connor, and other people. The first few races went really good then I went to the doctor and he told me to get fat because he thought I was too skinny so the second part of my season was pretty crappy. I didn't get to go to state and was ticked because Nathan beat me at region.

 

Sophomore Year- This was the year that I got that dark Cherokee blood running through me and then I decided to just haul butt the whole season because I was ticked at what happened to me freshman year. The first few meets of cross country and the whole season was great. I was able to go to state and got a low seventeen for 3 miles. And track went better too. Because normally I love cross country more than track. It was a pretty good year for this Cherokee kid.

PM- Today's run was quite interesting to say the least. I was planning on doing just an easy 9 today. I was actually going faster than I probably should have for an easy day of running like 6:50s for the first three miles then I started to feel really, really out of breath and wheezing, I ate one piece of shrimp today that and i know that is what gave me the allergic reaction. So I just stood out in the middle of the desert plains for about 10 minutes until the reaction calmed down and started walking for a bit then decided to try and finish my run and finish up with 8 for the day. Hopefully this never happens again!!!!

PM- 7 miles easy at 7:34 pace then 2 miles at marathon effort just trying to get a feel for the pace and what it will feel like. 6:51 and 6:31 for those. Got a little excited on the last mile and went faster than marathon effort. Felt good for pretty much the entire run.

PM- Had the AP English Test today, which was pretty draining. Felt pretty confident in the test though. Did 14 miles on the assault bike then just 3 miles easy for a cooldown. Power cleans and push press afterward. Gonna try a speed workout tomorrow.

PM- 2 mile warmup, I wanted to do some type of speed today to get the legs going. Did 10x500m with a 2 minute recovery between each. Felt pretty good during them until the last three then I started to get tired. 2 mile cooldown afterward.

PM- 10 miles easy. It was pretty hot out today, so I wore a tank top today. I felt good, then about the last mile I was feeling the heat more than usual. Just not used to it getting warmer yet. Average pace 7:22. Overall a good run today!!!

AM- 5 miles out on the Brush Creek Trail. Felt good, blood sugars were pretty low this morning so that might be why I felt a little tired towards the end. Average pace 7:33. Will probably do more tonight.

PM- 5 miles out in Naples. Felt ok, I hit my knee on some metal post yesterday so my knee kinda hurt during the run. Going to tour the UVU Campus tomorrow. Should be fun.

Later did a good Crossfit workout at home. It involved about a mile of running.

AM- Decided to do the Dino 5k. My legs have been kinda dead because of the marathon miles and extra training that I have been doing lately. My plan for the race was to go out at marathon pace effort, which is weird for a 5k. But I wanted to see how the pace will feel for the marathon. Hit a 6:55 on the first mile, and I was in 1st place haha. The competition was flat out nothing. Then I wanted to speed up to half marathon pace for mile 2 and finish mile 3 at 5k pace. Felt consistent with it all, and hit 6:11 for the second mile, and 5:43 for the last mile. Felt good and had a lot left in the tank. It still was a fun race that Runtastic events put on. Now I am somewhat going to start tapering for the marathon next weekend, and might do a tempo run next week as well. Overall a good birthday so far. 

Later in the evening did 2 mile shakeout. 6:38 average

PM- 2 miles at marathon effort then 1.5 mile easy cooldown Average pace 6:51. It really is hard to believe that in less than 48 hours I will be running my first marathon. Although a major goal of mine is a boston qualifier, I just want to enjoy the moment of running my first marathon and learn from it. I know that I cannot predict the exact outcome of the race, but I am going to give my best effort, and most importantly have fun and be safe on the roads. For everyone running the Ogden Marathon this weekend I will see you all out there on the roads Saturday. Best of luck to everyone!!!

RACE DAY: OGDEN MARATHON

Wow my first marathon!!! It was quite the experience to say the least. Probably won't be able to walk for a day or two haha!!! Didn't sleep very good last night, just cause of nerves and such. Woke up at 3:30 cause I had to catch the bus by 5:00. Carbed up on  some bagels and bananas. Tried to hydrate really good as well. Gun goes off and we were off on our long 26.2 mile journey. Was feeling really good, but probably went out way too fast for the first half. Came through in 1:26:12. haha. Kept going and got water at every aid station I could, and used my honey stinger at mile 18 or so. Was still going strong up to about mile 23 or so, and then my body just hit a wall. I don't believe it was the total wall that runners hit in the marathon, but my blood sugars just dropped considerably in the last 3 miles or so. Really didn't know what to think after that. I just wanted the race to be over. I was in a lot of pain at this point in the race. I had blisters and my blood sugar was probably in the 40s. I just gave everything that I had up to the finish. Came in with a 3:09:44. Was pretty close to a Boston Qualifier, and I know I could have got it if my blood sugar hadn't gone so low. I definitely like half marathons better, just because they don't put such a strain on the body. Overall a great experience and now I can say that I have run a marathon. Don't know when or if I will do one in the near future, but I am glad that I got to experience the Ogden Marathon this year. I want to thank the city of Ogden for putting up a great event, and for all the volunteers that helped the runners along the way. Great event and experience overall

No running today or yesterday. Still recovering from the marathon. Probably will bike tomorrow, and on Wednesday is our Senior trip, so I probably won't be running then. But will try an easy run on Thursday. I have a lot of blisters and I lost a toe nail. haha. I did go over to my Grandmas and did a lot of farm work after school, so I have not been totally lazy.

PM- First full run since the marathon haha!! Felt really good suprisingly so took the pace a little faster after about a mile of slower running. Average pace 6:57. Last mile was a 6:22 so I was feeling really good. Besides the nasty winds the run was really good. Can't believe that I am graduating tomorrow night. Gonna be a lit time at grad night tomorrow night.

PM- Today I did the Crossfit Hero Workout, "Murph". If any of you don't know who he is. He led a Navy Seal operation and was killed while sacrificing himself to go get air support. This workout is in honour of all those that gave their lives in battle for our freedom. Mile warmup then the workout was 1 mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, and another 1 mile run. My total time was 57:12 with a weighted vest. Both of my miles were right around 7:30s, so I was pretty happy with it considering the extra weight. I will probably be quite sore tomorrow.

AM- 5 miles easy. I am super sore for some reason today. I knew that I would be sore yesterday from Murph, but apparently I am still sore from it today as well. Hopefully I will get loosened up by tomorrow. I probably will do another shakeout tonight.
