Ran cross country and track all throughout high school. Met a lot of great people and enjoyed the races, travel time, and the overall process for all four years. I made varsity several times throughout high school, but had to work quite a bit for it as well. Overall, had a great experience with it though!

Personal:

Born again Christian. I have been a type 1 diabetic since 2015 and celiac since 2018, and even though I have had my struggles with it, I still strive to live a healthy life. Senior at Utah State University studying Health Science. Hoping to go into pharmaceuticals and focus on diabetic supplies and medicine, because I am quite passionate about helping those that have the same medical condition as I do.

AM- 12.3 on Kid's Canal Rd. My calves were sore yesterday and they were somewhat sore this morning as well. Probably from the 8 mile downhill leg on Saturday relay race. Still felt good to loosen up some during this run.

PM- Easy 10k in the evening. Felt pretty good! 7:40 average.

AM- 6.3 from Aggie. Might end up doubling today.

PM- 6 miles on Kid's Canal Rd. I quite like this route for easy runs. Might be one of the better routes for faster tempos as well. 7:34 average.

AM- Was wanting to do a tempo this morning, but breathing and legs were not cooperating this morning. Got about .7 into the tempo, and just called it there. Easy mileage after to get to a little over 13 for today. See how I am feeling tomorrow, and might add in a little bit of something to mix things up.

AM- Ran two miles on Aggie heading towards HW 40, then went back towards the college and ran home from there. Picked up the pace a little with less than a half mile left. Got home, drank some water, then headed back out for another 5.1 easy miles. Overall felt good!

AM- 2 mile shakeout on the treadmill. Endo appointment today in Salt Lake for a diabetes checkup. Also running a 5k in South Jordan later tonight, which should be fun!

PM- Ran a 5k tonight after my diabetes appointment. The race started at about 7 pm, and I my legs were feeling pretty fresh tonight, but I wasn't sure how well my breathing would hold up with my low iron levels. Did a mile warmup, then did a few strides and some drills. Went out too quick, at about 5:30 pace. This was a mistake, because it more than likely made my breathing worse. 6:25 first mile. Legs were feeling pretty good, but my breathing was definitely suffering after that first mile split. Slowed down quite a bit for the second mile in 7:00. Interestingly, I was somewhat able to break through some of my shortness of breath in the last mile and focus on a pace somewhere around 6:40-6:45. This 5k was short, being about 2.7. 2 mile cooldown afterwards on the Jordan River Parkway Trail. Just going to continue watching how I feel when I push the pace, and try to make some good progress!
